Reza John Vedadi, Ph.D has a strong educational background and a comprehensive research focus on the complex relationship between the Hollywood film industry and the representation of West Asian and Muslim identities. He completed his undergraduate degree in Media Studies at London Guildhall University in 1999. Following that, he pursued his first master's degree in Film Production at London Metropolitan University in 2010. Later, in 2016, he completed his second postgraduate degree in Islamic Studies at Middlesex University.

Reza John's current research, conducted from 2019 to 2023 as part of his PhD studies, delves into the intricate dynamics between the Hollywood film industry and the portrayal of West Asian and Muslim identities. The primary focus of his research is to explore whether it is the American culture that shapes the depiction of Muslims in Hollywood films or if it is the influence of Hollywood movies that shapes the perception of the Muslim identity within American culture and society. Through his extensive investigation, Reza John aims to address these pivotal questions while also laying the groundwork for future research in this area.
